Greater Bengaluru Authority sets December deadline for infrastructure projects

Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has set a December deadline for the completion of infrastructure projects funded by the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF). Currently, 55% of the ₹237.25 crore worth of NDMF projects across 20 packages have been finished.

Major road white-topping works, totaling ₹1,700 crore across 120.69 km, are 51% complete. Rao has instructed officials to prioritize pipeline installation by the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board in these areas to prevent future disruptions. Additionally, the city is managing ₹2,000 crore in World Bank-funded projects, with stormwater drain development currently at 13% progress.

In a separate effort related to the ‘Freedom from Waste’ campaign, Rao inspected railway lands to improve cleanliness. He directed railway officials to clear construction debris, remove overgrown vegetation, and install fencing along tracks. He also called for collaboration with NGOs to beautify areas along Ballari Road and coordinate with K-RIDE and railway departments to maintain cleanliness near flyovers and alternative roads.
