Greater Faridabad to receive double-decker elevated road

The Faridabad Metropolitan Development Authority (FMDA) is planning a 7-kilometer double-decker elevated road to improve connectivity between Greater Faridabad and Gurugram Road. The proposed infrastructure project aims to utilize a single corridor for dual transport modes: the upper level would host the Namo Bharat rapid rail tracks, while the lower level would accommodate vehicular traffic.

This East-West project is designed to bridge gaps caused by existing national highways and railway lines that currently divide the NIT area into separate sections. The elevated structure is intended to connect the Sainik Colony area to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, providing relief from traffic congestion and reducing the need for commuters to navigate through existing bottlenecks like Neelam Chowk.

A tender for one route of the East-West project is expected to be issued next week. Additionally, the FMDA has begun work to expand the service road on Neelam-BK Road into two lanes, with a goal to complete construction within one week to ease local traffic.
