Greater Noida police arrest long-term thief and mobile snatching gang

Police in Greater Noida have arrested several individuals involved in different theft and snatching operations.

In one operation, the Beta 2 police station arrested Sarmin, also known as Shambhu, a thief who had been evading authorities for approximately 10 years. Police utilized footage from over 250 CCTV cameras and electronic surveillance to apprehend him. Authorities recovered gold and silver jewelry valued at approximately 11 lakh rupees. The suspect reportedly used a keypad phone instead of a smartphone to avoid digital tracking and targeted locked houses in the Alpha-1 and Alpha-2 sectors.

In a separate incident, the Bisrakh police arrested three members of a gang specializing in mobile phone and chain snatching. The suspects, identified as Salman, Ajaj, and Naeem, were apprehended near Area Park. Police recovered five mobile phones, including an iPhone, two illegal firearms, ammunition, cash, and a motorcycle used in the crimes. Investigations revealed that while two members performed the snatching, the third facilitated the sale of stolen devices to other states, including West Bengal and Bihar.
