Greater Victoria coalition unveils candidate scorecard for municipal elections
A coalition of about a dozen partner groups, operating under the name Livable CRD, has created a "candidate scorecard" to help voters navigate the upcoming October municipal elections in Greater Victoria. The initiative will compile a questionnaire covering topics such as housing, climate change and transportation, which will be finalized by mid‑August and sent to all candidates.
Each participating organization will grade the answers in its area of expertise, assigning letter grades from A to D. The scorecard will cover the 66 listed candidates, with the coalition expecting more than 200 entries across the region’s 13 municipalities. While many social‑media users have welcomed the effort, some have raised concerns about transparency and potential bias. Livable CRD spokesperson Michael Bassili emphasized that the group is non‑partisan and does not endorse any candidate.
