Greca Asfaltos and BASF debut new pavement technologies at Paving Expo 2026
At the Paving Expo 2026 in São Paulo, Greca Asfaltos and BASF introduced new technologies aimed at improving the durability and sustainability of asphalt pavements.
Greca Asfaltos launched ECOFLEX Prime, an asphalt binder incorporating recycled rubber from tires. The product is designed for high-traffic areas to resist rutting and deformation. The company noted that over 30 million waste tires have been used in their rubber-asphalt technology over the last 25 years. Research cited by the company from USP and UFRGS suggests this technology offers crack resistance 5.5 times higher than conventional asphalt, while also potentially reducing CO2 emissions by up to 35.9%.
BASF presented B2Last, a liquid reactive modifier for asphalt binders. This technology is designed to increase the lifespan of pavements, making them more resilient to weather conditions and easier to produce at lower temperatures. The modifier aims to reduce maintenance needs and environmental impacts throughout the pavement's life cycle by improving resistance to cracking and interaction with reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP).
