Grecia Quiroz addresses homicide investigation and announces US trip

Uruapan Mayor Grecia Quiroz has addressed allegations regarding the investigation into the murder of her ex-husband, Carlos Manzo. Quiroz stated she is in direct communication with Secretary of Security and Protection Omar García Harfuch to coordinate the extraction of data from Manzo’s mobile phones by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR). She denied claims that she has refused to cooperate, asserting that she is pursuing institutional channels to ensure technical expertise and impartiality in the investigation.

Separately, Quiroz announced a trip to California, United States, scheduled for late September to meet with migrants from Michoacán. Accompanied by local deputy Carlos Bautista Tafolla of the Movimiento del Sombrero party, the visit is described as having humanitarian purposes to listen to the concerns of the migrant community. While critics have suggested the trip serves as an early campaign move for her 2027 gubernatorial ambitions, Quiroz and Tafolla maintain the focus is on addressing the needs of migrants and their ability to invest safely in their home communities.
