Grecia Quiroz calls for peace march in Uruapan

Grecia Quiroz, the mayor of Uruapan, has called for a national peaceful march to demand justice and peace on the one-year anniversary of the murder of Carlos Manzo. The mobilization is scheduled for November 1 at 10:00 AM, starting at the Lázaro Cárdenas Monument.

Manzo was killed in a shooting during the Festival de las Velas in Uruapan. Beyond seeking justice for his death, Quiroz stated the march aims to address broader issues of violence in Michoacán, including disappearances, extortion, displacement, and impunity. The movement seeks to represent various affected groups, such as searching mothers, farmers, journalists, and indigenous communities.
