Grecia Quiroz seeks federal investigation into Carlos Manzo homicide

Grecia Quiroz, the current municipal president of Uruapan and widow of the late Carlos Manzo, is calling for the Federal Attorney General's Office (FGR) to take over the investigation into her husband's murder. The homicide occurred on November 1, 2025, during a festival in Michoacán.

Quiroz has publicly requested that President Claudia Sheinbaum intervene to ensure the FGR assumes the case, citing potential involvement by organized crime. She has expressed frustration with the lack of communication from FGR Attorney General Ernestina Godoy and claims that the investigation files provided to her have been incomplete.

The situation is further complicated by a dispute with the Michoacán State Attorney General's Office (FGE) regarding the victim's mobile phones. State authorities have warned that failure to surrender the devices could lead to charges of obstruction of justice or arrest, a move Quiroz has resisted while questioning the state-level investigation.
