Grecotel reopens renovated Filoxenia Kalamata
The historic Filoxenia Kalamata, owned by the Grecotel Group, has fully reopened following an extensive renovation. Originally operating as ‘Xenia’, the hotel is a landmark institution in Kalamata, Messenia, with a 75-year history.
The renovation, overseen by Mary Daskalantonaki, incorporates local Messenian architectural and cultural elements. The hotel also features the Olive Club, a gastronomic initiative that utilizes ingredients from local producers to strengthen ties with the regional economy.
A reopening event was held attended by business leaders, including representatives from Costa Navarino and Elite City Resort, as well as political figures such as Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection Giannis Lampropoulos and Peloponnese Regional Governor Dimitris Ptosos. The Messenia Hoteliers Association noted that the investment is expected to boost the tourism competitiveness and development of the Messenian capital.
