Greece adjusts summer public transport schedule and imposes traffic restrictions in Thessaloniki
The summer timetable for public transport in Greece is now in effect until early September. Metro lines run every 7–7.5 minutes on weekdays, with Line 2 and Line 3 offering 4.5‑minute headways during peak hours and slightly longer intervals off‑peak. Tram service runs at 12‑minute intervals until 22:00, and bus and trolley routes operate under a two‑phase summer plan, including a reduced "Summer II" schedule in August and temporary suspension of student lines 242, 250 and E90 after exams. Additional services have been added to the airport, the port of Piraeus and the Poseidon Avenue corridor.
Simultaneously, Thessaloniki will enforce night‑time traffic restrictions on the Eastern Inner Bypass on 23–24 July as part of the flyover construction. From 23:00 to 05:00, eastbound traffic will be fully blocked between interchanges K5 (Papageorgiou) and K6 (Metearon), with vehicles rerouted via the Sklaveni‑Giannis‑Ritsos‑Thiseas corridor and the Stratos Avenue. Westbound traffic on the same road will continue normally.
