Greece aims for fairer regional development distribution
Greek Minister of State Thanasis Kontogeorgis has outlined government objectives to ensure a more equitable and proportional distribution of development dividends across the country over the next four years. Speaking during a regional tour, Kontogeorgis emphasized the administration's commitment to supporting all areas, specifically noting a dedicated portfolio for mountainous and island regions.
Addressing the rising cost of living, the Minister highlighted that the government is prioritizing assistance for heating oil to support broad segments of the population ahead of winter. He also noted that the European Union is beginning to recognize the specific transport burdens faced by certain regions. Kontogeorgis stated that the government aims to focus more heavily on remote areas and those previously dependent on single-crop economies that have been disproportionately affected by economic shifts.
