Greek agricultural subsidies face delays amid technical issues
Greek agricultural producers are facing significant delays in the 2026 Single Application for Support (EAE) process. Due to low submission rates—with only approximately 25,000 finalized declarations out of 600,000 potential beneficiaries—officials are considering a three-phase payment plan. Technical issues, land registry discrepancies, and forest map complications have been cited as primary causes for the bottleneck.
In a related development, the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) has completed a payment of 14.6 million euros to 34,200 beneficiaries to compensate for increased fertilizer costs. This third phase covers purchases made between July 1 and August 31, 2026. Total cumulative payments for fertilizer support have now reached 34 million euros, benefiting 68,000 producers to date.
Additionally, scheduled social security and employment payments are set to proceed between September 28 and October 2, involving over 1.7 million beneficiaries through e-EFKA and DYPA, totaling over 1.2 billion euros.
