Greece allocates 350 million euros for AI Gigafactory development

Greece has transferred 350 million euros to the European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) to support large-scale artificial intelligence investments in Europe. This funding, sourced from the Recovery Fund, aims to facilitate Greek participation in the development of AI Gigafactories and access to high-performance computing services.

In Greece, the Public Power Corporation (PPC/DEI) is evaluating a proposal to establish an AI Gigafactory in Western Macedonia. The company is currently considering the project's structure and potential partnerships with European entities. If selected, the 350 million euro contribution could serve as the national component of the funding, potentially matched by equivalent European participation. The funds may also be directed toward other EuroHPC initiatives, including quantum computing and supercomputing infrastructure.
