Greece allocates 53 million euros for free agricultural advisory services

Greece has established a new institutional framework for providing free agricultural advisory services to professional and young farmers. A joint decision signed by the Ministry of Rural Development and Food and the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) outlines the implementation of Action 1 under the Strategic Plan for the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2023-2027.

The program has an estimated budget of 53 million euros, which will cover 100% of the costs through public spending, ensuring that participating farmers face no financial burden. The initiative aims to fund certified advisory bodies to provide technical, economic, and environmental support. Key areas of expertise include digital technologies in agriculture, livestock management, water resource optimization, climate change adaptation, and biological production.

The new framework simplifies the integration process by utilizing existing certifications from ELGO-DEMETRA. Priority will be given to young farmers and livestock breeders to improve sustainable management and overall farm productivity.
