Greece and Cyprus sign cooperation memorandum on education and history

The Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus and the Church of Cyprus have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sport of the Hellenic Republic and the Church of Greece. The agreement aims to highlight the history, struggles, and cultural contributions of Cypriot Hellenism.

Key initiatives under the memorandum include the implementation of educational actions such as annual seminars and training programs for educators and clergy from both nations. It also establishes student competitions regarding Cypriot history and culture, educational visits to historical sites, and collaborative activities between school units.

Furthermore, the parties plan to develop a shared digital platform and websites containing educational and historical materials, including content regarding the Turkish invasion and occupation of Cyprus. The cooperation also includes the joint drafting of an educational guide for teachers participating in these initiatives.
