The Hellenic Center for Defense Cooperation (ELKAK) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sea Grant Program (MITSG) have signed a Joint Declaration of Strategic Cooperation in Boston. The agreement establishes a permanent partnership focused on maritime robotics and autonomy.

Key areas of collaboration include the transfer of expertise, the development of educational activities, and the creation of infrastructure in Greece to implement similar programs. The partnership aims to link Greek defense innovation with the scientific and technological knowledge of MIT. Specific objectives involve the design, construction, and testing of various types of autonomous maritime vehicles, as well as the exchange of technical and research personnel.

The signing ceremony, held at the Consulate General of Greece in Boston, was attended by Greek Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias and Consul General Eleni Porichi. The agreement also facilitates cooperation with the Hellenic Naval Academy and other Greek Armed Forces authorities.
