Greece and United States deepen migration cooperation in talks led by Minister Thanos Plevris

The United States Department of Homeland Security delegation met with Greek Minister of Migration and Asylum Thanos Plevris at the Greek ministry. The officials discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation to tackle illegal migration, implement the new European Migration and Asylum Pact and enhance the role of migrant returns.

Both sides highlighted the exchange of best practices, joint training and operational knowledge as key to improving the effectiveness of migration management, protecting the EU's external borders, accelerating asylum procedures and increasing returns of persons without international protection. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in the coming months.
