Metlen and Coca-Cola sign 10-year green energy deal

Metlen and Coca-Cola Trias Epsilon have entered into a ten-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) to supply renewable energy. The deal involves a 12 MW photovoltaic plant located in Mikro Perivolaki, Magnesia, which is expected to produce approximately 16.5 GWh of electricity annually. Coca-Cola Trias Epsilon will absorb 100% of the energy produced, supporting its goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2040.

Separately, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, the Greek Minister of Economy and Finance and President of the Eurogroup, addressed the 6th Thessaloniki Metropolitan Summit. Speaking alongside historian Peter Frankopan, Pierrakakis emphasized the urgent need for deeper European integration to remain competitive against global powers like the US and China. He argued that the EU cannot afford to function as 27 separate entities and must move toward unified markets, a common energy policy, and a digital euro by the end of the decade.

In Greece, the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce and Entrepreneurship (ESEE) also met with Pierrakakis to present an action plan for supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. The plan focuses on reducing bureaucracy, enhancing competitiveness, and lowering tax and insurance burdens for businesses.
