Greece announces 2026 agricultural subsidy and eco-scheme terms
New circulars have established the eligibility criteria, commitment requirements, and necessary documentation for the 2026 Single Application for Support in Greece, covering both eco-schemes and coupled support.
The 10 Eco-Schemes provide voluntary decoupled direct payments to active farmers for practices that exceed standard regulatory requirements. Key actions include replacing water-intensive crops like cotton or maize with winter cereals or legumes, and cultivating innovative resilient species such as quinoa, teff, or sweet potato. Additionally, farmers can receive support for maintaining ecological focus areas, such as fallow land or flowering zones, which must comprise at least 10% of arable land.
Coupled support regulations apply to both arable/tree crops and livestock production. To receive these payments, producers must meet minimum delivery thresholds to processors, traders, or cooperatives. Specific requirements include a minimum delivery of 400 kg of rice per stremma and 50 tons of industrial tomato per hectare. For Corinthian raisins, a minimum delivery of 150 kg per stremma is required. Farmers must maintain strict digital records, including invoices and official labels, to ensure compliance and avoid double funding.
