Greece announces 2026 equalization compensation for farmers

The Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food is preparing the 2026 call for the P3-71 intervention, which provides equalization compensation to areas characterized by natural or other special disadvantages. This initiative is part of the 2023-2027 Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) strategic plan.

The compensation is available to active farmers (both natural and legal persons) conducting agricultural activities in three specific categories: mountain areas, areas with natural constraints (excluding mountain areas), and areas with special disadvantages such as border regions, islands, and areas at risk of agricultural land abandonment due to the phase-out of lignite activities.

Applications must be submitted via the Single Application for Support (EAE) 2026 through the myAGRO application on the myAADE digital portal. The deadline for submission is October 16, 2026. The subsidy is calculated per hectare and follows a tiered structure: 100% support for the first 20 hectares, 80% for the 20 to 25-hectare range, and 50% for the 25 to 30-hectare range. No compensation is provided for land exceeding 30 hectares, though holdings larger than 30 hectares may still receive support for the initial 30 hectares.
