Greece announces 94,240 job positions for third-country nationals in 2026

Greece has set a quota of 94,240 job positions for third-country nationals for the year 2026. According to a Ministerial Council decision, this includes 44,240 dependent employment roles, 48,000 seasonal positions, and 2,000 high-specialization roles, with a potential 10% increase allowed to meet unforeseen needs.

The primary sector represents the largest demand, accounting for approximately 55,000 positions (54% of the total) across agriculture, livestock, forestry, and fishing. Tourism follows as the second largest recipient, requiring 11,700 seasonal workers.

Separately, an analysis by Eurobank highlights a significant economic opportunity within Greece's tertiary education sector. While Greece has the highest tertiary education participation rate among 20-year-olds in the EU at 55.7%, it ranks poorly in matching workforce skills with market needs. Eurobank estimates that improving the quality of higher education and research could boost Greece's potential GDP by between 10.8% and 12.7%.
