Greece launches €263.5 million agricultural investment program
Greece is launching new agricultural Improvement Plans under the 2023–2027 CAP Strategic Plan, backed by €263.5 million in public funding. Electronic applications will be accepted via the OPKSKE platform from October 6, 2026, until January 20, 2027.
The program targets natural persons (aged 18–63), legal entities, and collective schemes such as cooperatives. Funding focuses on three main areas: competitiveness, water conservation, and renewable energy. Subsidies can cover up to 70% of costs for investments including tractors, livestock equipment, solar panels, and precision farming. For olive grove planting, subsidies can reach up to €1,000 per stremma depending on planting density, with higher rates (up to 60%) available for young farmers.
In a separate administrative move, a new system for managing agricultural subsidies is being implemented. This includes the opening of seven bank accounts at the Bank of Greece to manage funds from the European Agricultural Fund for Guarantee and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. A €500 million liquidity buffer will be transferred to ensure seamless payments, with the new payment operations scheduled to begin on October 16, 2026. The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) will play a central role in directing these funds to final beneficiaries.
