Greece announces debt repayment and energy interconnection progress
Greek Minister of State Akis Skertsos has highlighted four key government actions aimed at enhancing economic stability and social security.
First, the government is proceeding with an early repayment of 13 billion euros of public debt scheduled for 2026 to increase fiscal freedom. Second, new spatial planning frameworks for tourism, renewable energy, and industry have been implemented to establish unified rules for development across the country.
Third, the new digital platform myAGRO has been launched to facilitate electronic applications for 2026 agricultural subsidies. Finally, regarding the Great Sea Interconnector project for the electrical interconnection between Greece and Cyprus, the French investment group Meridiam has reached an agreement to become a majority shareholder, while the French company Nexans will handle the construction and laying of the cable.
