Greece announces expansion of national preventive health programs

At the 17th Pharma and Health Conference, Greece's Deputy Health Minister announced that the “Prolamvano” (I Prevent) program has seen a citizen response rate exceeding 50%. The initiative currently utilizes over 500 facilities to provide free preventive screenings to both insured and uninsured citizens.

Future expansions include the establishment of seven specialized breast cancer centers across the country within the next two years. Additionally, a National Screening Program for lung cancer is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2027 through seven reference centers, targeting high-risk populations such as heavy smokers and those with hereditary risk factors.

The government aims to ensure continuity of care for citizens with medical findings through free services within public health structures to protect economically vulnerable individuals. Digital integration via the MyHealth App is also being emphasized to create a more accessible prevention system.
