Greece announces free entry to museums and archaeological sites
Public museums and archaeological sites under the management of the Greek Ministry of Culture will offer free admission on the first and third Sunday of every month from November 1 through March 31 each year.
In addition to these monthly Sundays, free entry is scheduled for specific dates, including March 6, April 18, May 18, the last weekend of September, and October 28. The Acropolis Museum is excluded from the general monthly free entry rule, though it maintains its own specific schedule for free admission on designated holidays and during European Heritage Days.
As part of the Marathon Month celebrations, a special guided tour is also organized for Sunday, November 1, 2026. Led by archaeologist Martin Kreeb, the tour includes visits to the Sanctuary of the Egyptian Gods in Brexiza, the Marathon Tomb, the Battle of Marathon Monument, and the Marathon Archaeological Museum.
