Greece tax reform to benefit 500,000 taxpayers by 2027

A new Greek tax reform package set to take effect in 2027 is expected to benefit over 500,000 taxpayers, including self-employed professionals, large families, farmers, and property owners.

Key measures for the self-employed include the abolition of presumptive income increases linked to turnover and payroll for approximately 156,000 professionals. Additionally, the tax advance for individual businesses will be reduced from 55% to 50%, provided taxpayers meet strict compliance criteria such as using myDATA and POS systems.

Families with three children (large families) will see their income tax zeroed out for earnings up to €20,000. Farmers with incomes up to €20,000 will also receive full tax exemptions. Property owners in small settlements (up to 2,000 residents) will benefit from a 50% reduction in presumptive income and exemptions from ENFIA.

For rental income, a new intermediate 25% tax rate will be introduced to mitigate sudden tax increases for owners earning over €12,000 annually. The reforms aim to provide financial relief through lower tax rates and reduced presumptive burdens, though some business-related measures are noted to be more gradual.
