Greece approves 20,870 permanent public sector jobs for 2027

The Greek Council of Ministers has approved a recruitment plan for the public sector for 2027, authorizing 20,870 permanent positions and staff on special assignment. Additionally, a maximum of 29,344 positions for fixed-term private law contracts and project-based staff has been set for the same year.

Key sectors receiving personnel include:

• Health: 4,650 positions, including 1,515 medical staff and 3,135 nursing and other personnel. • Local Government: 3,845 positions for municipalities and regional authorities. • National Defense: 1,489 positions for training schools, 1,000 EP/OP positions, and 102 teaching research staff. • Citizen Protection: 1,050 positions for trainee police officers, 140 officer roles, and 151 security personnel for detention facilities. • Fire Service: 330 training school positions and 600 general duty firefighters. • Infrastructure and Transport: 1,300 positions, including 582 for OSE, 230 for OSY AE, 135 for Fixed Communications, and 154 for the Civil Aviation Authority. • Tax Administration: 1,000 new hires for the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) to strengthen audit mechanisms.
