Greece approves 20,870 public sector recruitments for 2027

The Greek Cabinet has approved a recruitment plan for 2027, authorizing a total of 20,870 new permanent and seconded staff positions across various public sectors.

Priority areas for these recruitments include the National Health System, which will receive 4,650 positions (comprising 1,515 medical staff and 3,135 nursing and other personnel). National Defense will be bolstered by 1,489 positions in productive schools, 1,000 EP. OP positions, and 102 teaching and research staff roles.

Citizen Protection will see 1,050 positions for trainee police officers and sub-inspectors, along with 140 officer roles. The Fire Service will be strengthened with 330 positions in productive schools and 600 general duty firefighter roles to address climate crisis needs.

Additionally, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport will receive 1,300 new positions, including 582 for OSE and 230 for OSY SA. The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) is set to expand with 1,000 new recruitments, and the judiciary will see 95 new judicial officers.
