Greece approves 45‑million‑euro contract for Kalamata International Airport

The Greek cabinet approved a 40‑year concession contract for the operation of Kalamata International Airport “Kapetan Vassilis Konstantakopoulos”. The concession was awarded to a consortium of FRAPORT AG (51% ownership), Delta Airport Investments and Pileas, with a total financial offer of €45.2 million, of which €45 million is paid at the start of the term.

The consortium commits to invest at least €28.3 million in the first three years for modernising existing facilities, expanding the runway area, building a new aircraft parking zone on about 50 decare, installing IT infrastructure and creating duty‑free and food‑beverage retail spaces. The project is presented as a catalyst for further tourism development in the southern Peloponnese.
