Greece approves funding for Imeri marina studies

Greek Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni has signed an invitation to fund the spatial planning and licensing studies for the Imeri marina in the Maroneia-Sapes municipality, located in the Rodopi regional unit.

The project has secured 155,000 euros to advance the necessary studies. Positioned where the vertical axis from the Balkans meets the Thracian Sea, the marina is intended to serve as a landmark for maritime tourism and attract high-quality visitors from neighboring countries to the Aegean.

The initiative follows a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment and Energy, which included provisions in the Special Spatial Planning Framework for Tourism. The project is slated for inclusion in the Sectoral Development Program 2026-2030, aiming to bolster the local economy and address demographic challenges in the Thrace region through balanced tourism development.
