A 52-year-old gynecologist and midwife has been arrested in Attica, Greece, on charges of child pornography. The arrest was conducted by the Cybercrime Division following an investigation triggered by information from the U.S.-based National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and Google.

During searches of the suspect's residence in the northern suburbs and his medical practice in Chalandri, authorities seized several electronic devices, including a mobile phone, a laptop, a tablet, a hard drive, and a microSD card. Investigators reportedly found hundreds of files containing sexual abuse material of minors, including children under the ages of 12 and 15.

The suspect has reportedly admitted to possessing the material, claiming it was for ‘personal use’. While authorities have not confirmed the production of original material, the case has caused significant shock within the medical community and among the doctor's patients. The suspect is expected to appear before a prosecutor to face the charges.
