Greece Men's Basketball Team prepares for crucial World Cup qualifiers

The Greek Men's National Basketball Team is preparing for two critical FIBA World Cup 2027 qualifying matches against Ukraine on August 28 and Spain on August 31. Currently holding a 3-3 record, the team sits at the bottom of the group alongside Portugal and Georgia, making these upcoming games essential for their qualification hopes.

During a Media Day at the Telekom Center Athens, head coach Vasilis Spanoulis expressed confidence, stating that while the team's previous performances were disappointing, the focus remains solely on the goal of qualifying for the World Cup. Players including Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Dinos Mitoglou, and Tyler Dorsey emphasized the importance of mental and physical readiness, describing the matches as “do or die” encounters.

To prepare, the team will play two friendly matches: one against Poland on August 22 and another against Cyprus on August 24 at the Telekom Center Athens. Tickets for the Cyprus friendly are priced at 10 euros.
