Black Friday 2026: Dates and new EU customs fees for consumers
Black Friday 2026 is scheduled for Friday, November 27, followed by Cyber Monday on Monday, November 30. In the Greek market, promotional activities are expected to expand into a “Black Month,” with many retailers beginning discounts as early as the start of November to mitigate the pressure of a single-day rush.
Consumers are expected to focus heavily on technology, including smartphones, laptops, and home appliances. However, economic challenges such as inflation and high living costs may impact purchasing power. Reports indicate that many households are struggling with rising expenses for energy and housing, which could influence whether these sales drive new revenue or simply shift existing spending.
Additionally, new European Union customs regulations will impact small parcels from Asian platforms like Temu and Shein. Starting November 1, 2026, a new administrative handling fee of 2 euros will be implemented. When combined with the existing 3-euro customs duty, the total additional cost for small parcels from outside the EU could reach 5 euros, aimed at covering the operational costs of customs inspections.
