Greece completes 13 port infrastructure projects worth €78.4 million
Vasilis Kikilias, the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, has announced the completion of 13 major port infrastructure projects across Greece, totaling 78.4 million euros. These upgrades aim to enhance safety, functionality, accessibility, and resilience for both island and mainland ports.
Key projects, totaling approximately 59.3 million euros, were concentrated in Alexandroupoli, Stylida, and Volos. In Alexandroupoli, works included dredging the basin and channel, alongside new road connections. In Stylida, the basin was dredged and the channel widened. In Volos, functional depths were restored following damage from storms Daniel and Elias.
Other completed works include improvements in Ios, Argostoli, Heraklion, Symi, Leros, Agia Roumeli, Kastellorizo, Sitia, and at the Holy Monasteries of Megisti Lavra and Iberon. The projects were primarily funded by the ‘Greece 2.0’ National Recovery and Resilience Plan, supplemented by national and regional development resources.
