The General Directorate for the Restoration of the Effects of Natural Disasters (GD-AEFK) has completed 527 building re-inspections in areas affected by wildfires and flooding across Greece between early August and August 20. According to the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the inspections resulted in 191 buildings being classified as ‘green’ (safe), 178 as ‘yellow’ (cautionary), and 158 as ‘red’ (unusable due to heavy structural damage).

The most severe impact was recorded in Western Attica following the July 31 wildfire, specifically in the municipalities of Mandra-Eidyllia and Megara, where 304 inspections were conducted. In these areas, 112 buildings were marked ‘red’. Other notable inspection results include 70 inspections in Rethymno (25 ‘red’), 22 in Salamina (5 ‘red’), and 17 in Phocis (6 ‘red’).

In the municipality of Mandra-Eidyllia, the first financial aid payments to wildfire victims have been processed within a record 20 days of the fire period ending. Deputy Minister Kostas Katsafados stated that these rapid payments aim to provide immediate support and reduce bureaucratic delays for affected citizens.
