Thessaly infrastructure restoration: Minister Dimas announces completion of priority one projects

Greek Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas announced the completion of the first phase of restoration projects following the devastating floods caused by Storm Daniel. Speaking at a seminar organized by the Regional Association of Municipalities of Thessaly in Tsagarada, Dimas stated that all priority one (P1) projects, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Facility, have been finalized.

The total investment for infrastructure repairs in Thessaly, Euboea, and Phthiotis exceeds 1.3 billion euros. This includes approximately 899.7 million euros for road networks and 450.12 million euros for railway works. Of the 997 identified road repair points, 391 have been completed, with the remaining 606 works scheduled to continue through April 2029.

Dimas emphasized that the state remains committed to completing all remaining second-priority (P2) projects. Local officials, including former President of the Regional Association of Municipalities of Thessaly Thanasis Nasiakopoulos, highlighted the need for continued flood prevention measures, such as drainage systems for the Thessalian plain, to protect residents from future extreme weather events.
