Greece conducts military parade rehearsal in Thessaloniki
The Greek Armed Forces held a rehearsal parade in Thessaloniki on Thursday to prepare for the October 28th celebrations. The event showcased a wide array of modern weaponry, including Leopard battle tanks, armored vehicles, and advanced air defense systems such as David’s Sling, Spyder, and Barak MX, which are part of the ‘Achilles’ Shield’ layered defense architecture.
A significant focus was placed on domestic defense industry achievements. Notable displays included the ‘Arpyia’ mini cruise missile, a Greek-designed one-way attack drone with autonomous navigation and low radar cross-section, and the ‘Anemogiannis’ robotic unmanned surface vehicle (USV) designed for maritime access denial.
Other technologies presented included various drones, the ‘Kentauros’ and ‘Hyperion’ anti-drone systems, and the ‘Archytas’ unmanned aerial vehicle. The parade served as a demonstration of Greece’s updated military doctrine and its transition toward a modern, networked defense architecture.
