Greece considers additional support measures amid rising cost of living
Greek Development Minister Takis Theodorikakos stated that additional support measures may be necessary if the current international crisis persists through the winter. He emphasized the government's goal to balance fiscal stability with social cohesion, particularly for those most affected by rising costs.
Regarding the National Price Reduction Initiative, Theodorikakos confirmed it will continue until the end of the year. The initiative is voluntary for businesses. He noted that Eurostat data for September showed a food inflation rate of -0.2% during the first month of the program. While some products saw price increases, 1,740 specific items saw an average price reduction of approximately 9.5%, providing an estimated monthly saving of 40 euros for a household with a 500–600 euro supermarket budget.
