Greece: Deadline approaches for Social Household Bill electricity discounts

Beneficiaries of the Social Household Bill (KOT) in Greece must resubmit their applications by late September to maintain electricity bill discounts. The deadline for renewal is September 25, 2024.

Participation in the program is not automatic. Following the completion of tax filings, a new review of household financial and property data is conducted to ensure eligibility. The process evaluates total income, family composition, real estate holdings, and other social criteria.

Applications must be submitted electronically via the IDIKA platform. To qualify, the electricity supply must be for a primary residence held in the name of the applicant or their spouse, with a minimum consumption of 200 kWh per four-month period. The program includes different categories, such as KOT-A for households meeting Minimum Guaranteed Income requirements and KOT-B for low-income households that do not receive that specific benefit.
