Greek parliament speaker Nikitas Kaklamanis met outgoing Israeli ambassador Noam Katz, stressing that the Greece‑Israel partnership acts as an “anchor of stability” for the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East. The discussion highlighted a broader trilateral framework that also includes Cyprus, positioning the relationship as a pillar of regional security.

Separately, Greece’s Supreme Council for Defence and National Security approved the “Achilles’ Shield” programme, a €3.5 billion defence project that links Greek, Cypriot and Israeli air‑defence systems such as Patriot, David’s Sling, Barak MX, Spyder and the ELM‑2084 radar. The plan gives the Greek defence industry a 25 % share in production, fostering technological autonomy and joint operational procedures. Turkish officials have criticised the initiative, claiming it disturbs the regional balance.
