Greece deepens diplomatic and economic ties with Lebanon and Egypt amid Eastern Mediterranean focus

Greek business leader Giannis Bratakos met with Lebanese ambassador Kenj El Hajal in Athens to discuss expanding economic and commercial cooperation between Greece and Lebanon. The dialogue covered trade, food, energy, infrastructure, health, pharmaceuticals and port services, highlighting the role of the Lebanese business community in Greece as a bridge for knowledge exchange and new partnerships. Bratakos said that, despite regional challenges, stronger economic collaboration can provide a stable field for mutual benefit.

In a separate conversation, Greek Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis spoke by phone with his Egyptian counterpart, confirming progress in the strategic partnership between Greece and Egypt. The ministers exchanged views on regional issues, notably the situation in Libya, stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and recent US‑Iran negotiations, and referenced a recent quadrilateral foreign‑minister meeting in Cairo that focused on Libya and broader security. The talks underline Greece’s effort to bolster diplomatic ties and coordination with neighboring countries in the region.
