Greece Deputy Finance Minister emphasizes fiscal discipline

Greek Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Thanos Petralias has reaffirmed the government's commitment to fiscal discipline, stating that the administration will not make promises it cannot fulfill. He emphasized that this approach is intended to prevent a return to the economic conditions that previously led the country into a state of international supervision.

Petralias highlighted that the government has prioritized realistic goals over pre-election promises, citing the 2026 tax reform and the 2027 measures as examples of actions taken because the country's economic performance exceeded expectations.

He also discussed a newly announced package of measures totaling 2.2 billion euros, which is larger than the previous year's 1.7 billion euro package. According to Petralias, this package was developed after a line-by-line examination of the budget to ensure it covers all social groups while adhering to European fiscal frameworks.
