Greece Digital Gov Awards recognize Chania and Fire Service

The 2024 Digital Gov Awards, organized by the Ministry of Digital Governance, have recognized several Greek entities for their innovative digital solutions in public administration.

The Municipality of Chania received the second prize in the ‘Best Applied Idea’ category under Local Government for its ‘opencouncil.chania.gr’ platform. This tool utilizes artificial intelligence to enhance transparency and citizen participation by making municipal sessions and discussions easily accessible and searchable.

In the ‘Justice - Citizen Security’ category, the Hellenic Fire Service/Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection earned second prize for its digital service regarding mandatory property clearing declarations. This platform helps prevent forest fires by allowing citizens to report compliance with fire prevention laws, providing authorities with critical data for operational planning.
