Greece announces various social benefits and agricultural subsidies

Various Greek state agencies and ministries have announced the distribution of social benefits and subsidies across several sectors.

OPΕΚΑ is distributing payments to over 1 million beneficiaries, including child benefits, birth grants, housing allowances, and disability pensions. Minimum guaranteed income is also being processed via prepaid cards.

In the labor sector, DYPA announced September payments totaling significant amounts for unemployment benefits, maternity and parental leave, and training programs. Regular unemployment benefits alone covered over 171,000 beneficiaries.

The Ministry of Rural Development and Food, under Minister Margaritis Schoinas, has allocated approximately €3.63 million to 7,715 alfalfa farmers in regions including Ilia, Thessaloniki, and Peloponnese. This aid compensates for economic losses caused by movement restrictions implemented to combat foot-and-mouth disease.

Additionally, the Ministry of Education has allocated €8.175 million for student housing allowances at the University of Patras, covering 3,948 eligible students for the 2025–2026 academic year.
