Greece drug ring dismantled involving school distribution

Nine young individuals, aged 18 to 21, have been released under restrictive conditions following their appearance before the Investigating Magistrate of Evrytania. The group is accused of participating in a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking, with allegations that substances were distributed within schools and sports facilities, sometimes mixed with food.

The arrests were conducted through coordinated police operations in Karpenisi, Lamia, and Livadeia. In addition to drug trafficking charges, suspects face allegations regarding the illegal possession of weapons, fireworks, and theft. Authorities identified 34 individuals as potential clients of the organization, including minors.

The alleged leader of the criminal organization is scheduled to appear in court this Thursday. Defense lawyers noted that the decision to release the nine youths under restrictive terms was influenced by their status as post-adolescents and their clean criminal records, emphasizing prevention over incarceration.
