Greece: e-EFKA announces digital pension applications and payment schedules

The Greek social security administration, e-EFKA, has announced a transition to fully digital pension applications for former public sector employees, including security forces and armed forces. Starting November 2, 2026, applications for retirement due to old age will be submitted electronically. Applications for pensions due to the death of an insured person will follow on November 9, 2026. This digital shift aims to reduce bureaucracy and accelerate processing through the New Integrated Information System (OPS).

Separately, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security has scheduled the disbursement of November pensions and various benefits for the week of October 26–30, 2026. Over 2.5 billion euros will be paid to approximately 4.37 million beneficiaries. The payments are divided into two phases: the first phase on October 26 covers non-salaried funds (OAEE, OGA, ETAA) and private sector supplementary pensions, while the second phase on October 29 covers salaried funds (IKA-ETAM), public sector pensions, and other specific funds like NAT and ETAT. Due to the October 28 holiday, funds may be available at ATMs slightly earlier than the official dates.
