Greece evaluates US Stryker armored vehicle acquisition

Greece is considering the acquisition of Stryker armored vehicles from the United States to enhance the capabilities of the Greek Army. Following the US-Greece Strategic Dialogue on October 7, 2026, the transfer of these 8x8 wheeled armored vehicles was announced to improve interoperability.

Reports suggest the potential package could include approximately 300 vehicles. While the specific number, versions, and financial terms have not been officially disclosed, the acquisition may include various specialized models such as the M1126 Infantry Carrier Vehicle, M1127 Reconnaissance Vehicles, M1129 Mortar Carriers, and M1130 Command Vehicles. These variants would allow for infantry transport, reconnaissance, fire support, and command coordination.

This transfer is distinct from a separate $4 billion announcement regarding US military sales to Greece through Foreign Military Sales (FMS). The $4 billion figure is part of a long-term Greek defense plan and does not necessarily include the value of the Stryker vehicles.
