Greece expands childcare subsidies for student mothers

The expansion of the ‘Neighborhood Babysitters’ program in Greece provides financial assistance to student mothers to help them balance academic responsibilities with childcare. Eligible participants can receive up to 300 euros per month to cover the costs of caring for children aged two months to two and a half years.

Participation is subject to specific income criteria based on the number of children. For mothers with one child, the annual individual income must not exceed 24,000 euros, while the limit increases to 27,000 euros for mothers with two children. There are no income restrictions for families with three or more children. Additionally, the program allows relatives, such as grandparents, to act as caregivers.
