Greece expands Digital Work Card to five new sectors
On Monday 29 June 2026 the Greek government launched the next pilot phase of its Digital Work Card (Ψηφιακή Κάρτα Εργασίας). The scheme is being extended to five new sectors – consulting and advertising services, the repair industry, storage and logistics activities, water‑and‑sewage management and gambling enterprises.
The pilot will run until 15 November 2026, after which the use of the card will become mandatory on 16 November. The added sectors bring roughly 476 000 additional workers under the system, raising the total number of protected employees to about 2.5 million.
Labour Minister Niki Kerameos said the card “protects workers, ensures full payment of legal wages and combats undeclared work.” She noted that the measure has already led to overtime reporting increases of up to 1 200 % in some sectors and 2.7 million extra overtime hours reported in 2025 compared with 2024.
