Greece expands Digital Work Card to eight new sectors

A new pilot phase of Greece's Digital Work Card began on 29 June 2026, extending the system to consulting services, advertising and other office activities, the repairs sector, storage and logistics support, water‑and‑sewage management and gambling enterprises. The pilot runs until 15 November 2026, after which full implementation starts on 16 November.

Labour Minister Niki Kerameos said the measure boosts transparency, protects workers and guarantees accurate recording of working hours and full payment of wages. The expansion adds roughly 476 000 workers, bringing the total number of employees covered by the scheme to about 2.5 million. Reported overtime has risen sharply, up to 1 200 % in some sectors, with 2.7 million more overtime hours recorded in 2025 than in 2024.
